MONTCLAIR DROPS RAMAPO, 2-1 TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN NJAC ACTION

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team played host to the Red Hawks of Montclair State University today at the Athletic Center, dropping a tough 2-1 decision to the undefeated team.  With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 8-3-2 overall, 2-3-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.

Montclair State's Sean Pauls (Denville, NJ) scored his fourth goal of the season off a pass from Michael Cullen (Clementon, NJ) in the 26th minute to put the Red Hawks ahead, 1-0, before Mike Pytlar (Califon, NJ) hit the back of the net at 42:29 with his fifth goal of the year, giving the Red Hawks a 2-0 advantage heading into the intermission.

The Roadrunners got on the board midway into the second half when a Ramapo player was taken down in the box and Ramapo was awarded a penalty kick at 20:39. Senior Matt Fleissner (Scotch Plains, NJ) would take the penalty kick and score his fourth goal of the year.

Senior net minder Ian Tighe (Wyckoff, NJ) posted six saves while Teddy Ritter (Belford, NJ) blocked four shots in the full 90 minutes of play.

With the win the Red Hawks remain undefeated at 12-0-1 overall and 6-0 in the conference. MSU has now won 17 consecutive regular-season games and 22 straight overall against NJAC opponents.

Ramapo returns to action when they travel to Rutgers Camden on October 17th at 3:00pm.  The Red Hawks host Stockton on October 17th at 6:00pm.
