Center Valley, PA: The Ramapo College field hockey team picked up their first win of the season with a 5-2 victory over the Bulldogs from DeSales University. Ramapo improves to 1-3 while DeSales drops to 3-3.
Rookie goalkeeper
Kristine Adams (Pemberton, NJ) picked up her first collegiate victory in front of the cage after making six saves in the full 70 minutes of play.
The scoring started in the seventh minute when Alyssa Maltese hit the back of the cage on an unassisted goal giving DeSales a 1-0 edge. Senior
Sara Weimer (Atlantic Highlands, NJ) tied the game and gave the Roadrunners the lead at 14:18 and 21:07 to head into intermission, 2-1 over the Bulldogs. Junior
Ashley Zimmerman (North Plainfield, NJ) earned the assist on Weimer's first goal.
DeSales got one back in the second half to tie the game at 2-2 before
Kim Raimondi (Ridgewood, NJ) scored, what turned out to be the winning goal, with just under 20 minutes to play . Zimmerman put Ramapo up 5-2 with two insurance goals at 59:13 and 61:31.
Adams and the Ramapo defense would hold the Bulldogs the rest of the game to pick up their first win of the season.
The victory goes in the books as the first coaching victory for Head Coach Concetta Valerio.
The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to Vassar College on September 16th for a 4:00 PM start.
