JIMENEZ HOMERS IN NINTH TO TAKE GAME, 6-4

Camden, NJ:   Senior outfielder Jairo Jimenez (Bronx, NY) ripped a home run over the left field fence in the top of the 9th to take a 5-4 lead over Rutgers Camden before Gino Gallagher (Cedar Grove, NJ) crossed the plate on Rob Dimperio's (Jackson, NJ) single to center to add insurance.   Rookie Jack McDonough (Cranford, NJ) closed out the bottom of the inning to take the 6-4 victory in a NJAC conference match-up in Camden, NJ.  The Roadrunners improve to 14-16 overall and 3-9 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while Rutgers Camden falls to 7-22 overall and 1-11 in the conference.

Sophomore Scott Fruits (Turnersville, NJ) walked to lead off the bottom of the 1st inning and scored from third base when Zach Colgate (Haddon Heights, NJ) grounded out to shortstop for a 1-0 Rutgers-Camden lead.

Rampo would load the bases in the top of the second inning on a single and two Rutgers-Camden errors before the Scarlet Raptors would get out of the inning with a strikeout and ground out to end the Roadrunner threat.

Ramapo would tie the game in the top of the third inning when junior David Deredita (Clark, NJ) singled to center-field to lead off and advanced to second base on a failed pick off attempt by the Scarlet Raptor pitcher. Senior Ryan Paxton (Long Valley, NJ) knocked in Deredita with a single to right-field.

Colgate ripped a RBI triple to the left field gap to plate Fruits to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom half of the third.

Junior Mike Manges (Glen Rock, NJ) ripped a single to center field to plate Paxton from third base to tie the game at two in the 5th. Manges came around to score on sophomore Pete Sita's (Bayonne, NJ) single to right field before sophomore Mark Ruggerio (Fairfield, NJ) plated junior John Callandrello (Montville, NJ) with a sacrifice fly to right field to take a 4-2 lead.

Rutgers-Camden got one back in the sixth inning when Colgate tripled to right field and came around to score when the throw back into the field sailed into the home team dugout allowing him to score and tie the game at four.

Jimenez ripped his solo home run over the left field fence to take a 5-4 Ramapo lead in the top of the 9th inning.  Dimperio knocked in Gallagher for an insurance run from second base to take a 6-4 lead going into the bottom of the ninth.

McDonough picked up his second save of the season striking out one and walking none in one inning of work.  Michael Kondrath (Medford Lakes, NJ) gets the loss in four innings, striking out one and walking one.  He let up four hits and two runs, both earned, to fall to 0-2 on the season.  Dan Mulligan (Willington, DE) get the wins for the Roadrunners in eight innings, striking out three and walking four.  He let up four runs and five hits on the day.

Dimperio went 3-4 on the day while runs were scored by six different Roadrunners.  Deredita, Paxton, Manges, Jimenez, Callandrello, and Gallagher each put one on the board for the team.  Rutgers Camden was led by Colgate who went 2-4 on the day.

Ramapo faces off with NJAC rival NJCU tomorrow in a double-header match-up commencing at noon.  Rutgers Camden takes on Kean University tomorrow at 4:00 PM at home in a double-header match-up.
