(Pomona, NJ) – Ramapo (13-16, 2-9) scored a run in the ninth inning to snap a 10-10 tie and top Richard Stockton (18-10, 6-6) 11-10 in an NJAC baseball game today. The Roadrunners rallied from a 7-0 deficit after two innings.
David Deredita (Clark/A.L. Johnson) went 3-6 with two doubles and two RBI, and
Peter Sita (Bayonne Hudson Catholic) was 3-5 with a double and two RBI.
Jairo Jimenez (Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) also stroked three hits for Ramapo.
Domenick Raimondo (Fairfield/West Essex) allowed one run on two hits with two strikeouts in 3.1 innings of relief pitching for the win. For Stockton, Matt Hunt (Marlton/St. Joseph) went 2-4 with three RBI, and Chris Discher (Cherry Hill/CH West) and Matt Allen (Salem/ Woodstown) also knocked two hits apiece. The Ospreys were hampered by five errors which resulted in four unearned runs in the game.
Nick Sbarra (Washington Twp./Washington Twp.) led off the ninth inning with a bunt single and advanced to second base on a throwing error on the play. Sbarra moved to third base on a groundout and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Ryan Paxton (Long Valley/West Morris Central) for an 11-10 Ramapo lead.
Jack McDonough (Cranford/Cranford) pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth to earn a save for the Roadrunners.
Hunt ripped an RBI single in the first inning and added a two-run single in the second frame to help Stockton build a 7-0 lead. Ramapo battled all the way back and led 10-9 after scoring four runs in the top of the sixth. Stockton tied the game at 10-10 on an RBI triple by Pat Goodwin (Mays Landing/Holy Spirit) in the bottom of the sixth, but Ramapo prevailed with the game-winning run in the final inning.
Stockton will host eighth-ranked College of New Jersey in an NJAC game at Bernie Robbins Stadium tomorrow at 3:30 pm. Ramapo will play an NJAC game at Rutgers-Camden tomorrow at 3:30 pm
