Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's tennis team defeated the Bloodhounds of John Jay College, 8-1 today at the Athletic Center in Mahwah to improve to 8-7 overall. John Jay falls to 6-6.
The Roadrunners swept all doubles match-ups behind an 8-4 win at first doubles from
Prasanna Fernando (Wood-Ridge, NJ) and
Matt Soos (Barnegat, NJ).
Jared Rochman (Oakland, NJ) and
Keith Dobrin (Tinton Falls, NJ) combined efforts at the second doubles spot to defeat the John Jay pair, 8-3, before Nick Sposato (Nutley, NJ) and
Douglas Gromack (Hampton Bays, NY) recorded an 8-2 win wrapping up doubles action, 3-0 over John Jay.
Fernando dropped a tough, 0-6, 2-6 match-up at first singles before the Roadrunners took the final singles face offs defeating the Bloodhounds, 8-1. Dobrin recorded a 6-1, 6-3 win at second singles and Rochman and Soos followed with 6-1, 6-4 and 7-5, 2-6 (7) victories respectively.
Matt Cacciaguida (Hampton, NJ) defeated Michael Sohm 6-1, 6-1 and
Paul Baluyut (Paramus, NJ) shut out Milan Pavsic, 6-0, 6-0 to earn the team's 8th win of the year.
The Roadrunners return to action on Friday, April 18th when they travel to Bloomfield for a 3:00 PM start.
