One out later, Manges singled to tally two more, making the score 3-0 heading to the bottom of the first. Coe scored a run of their own in the bottom of the frame, cutting the lead to 3-1. Kieth Kwiatek (Raritan, NJ) kicked off the Ramapo six run second inning with a triple. The inning was highlighted by a Cacchiola two RBI single, and a Manges three run homerun, which made the score 9-1.
The Kohawks scratched their way back into the game with three runs in the third, and four runs in the fourth, to cut the deficit to one, 9-8, as the Ramapo bats were suddenly silenced. Coe put the tying and go ahead runners on base in the bottom of the sixth, before Ramapo turned to
Jordan Descafano (Toms River, NJ) to get out the jam. Descafano struck his first batter out looking, before retiring the next two on a flyout and groundout respectively. The Roadrunners added an insurance run in the top of the seventh, thanks to a
John McGuckin (Bayonne, NJ) RBI single, scoring
Justin Rabinowitz (Martinsville, NJ). Rabinowitz was running for Sita, who reached on an error to start the inning. Descafano recorded the first two outs, and then walked the bases loaded, before giving way to Cacchiola in the bottom of the seventh. Cacchiola retired the final batter of the game on a pop out to second, to earn his first save of the season.
Freshman
Domenick Raimondo (Fairfield, NJ) earned his first career win, as he posted 2+ innings of effective relief. Manges finished the game with three hits and five RBI, while Gallagher and Cacchiola had two hits a piece.
