Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team fell to NJAC rival Richard Stockton College today, 2-12. The Roadrunners fall to 10-9 overall and 0-3 in the conference while the Osprey's improve to 14-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
Scott Fisher (Toms River, NJ) improved to 3-1 for the Osprey's as he struck out nine in the complete game gave giving up six hits and two earned runs. His bid for a no-hitter was spoiled in the 5th inning when junior
Gino Gallagher (Cedar Grove, NJ) doubled to center field. Stockton pounded out 14 hits scoring 12 runs in the victory.
Stockton got on the board in the first when Chris Discher (Cherry Hill, NJ) and Pat Goodwin (Mays Landing, NJ) led off the with back to back singles before Fisher recorded a sacrifice ground out to plate the first run. Joe Sacerdote (Deptford, NJ) then drilled a pitch over the left field fence for a two-run homerun to increase the lead, 3-0. Craig Rich (Hamilton, NJ) doubled to right center field in the second inning before Discher's infield hit was misplayed allowing the Osprey's to pick up their fourth run of the game. In the top of the fourth inning the bases were loaded for Fisher when he drilled a sacrifice fly to center field to plate Matt Allen (Salem, NJ) who reached on an error earlier in the inning. The Osprey's added seven more runs over the next five innings extend their lead.
Ramapo scored one run in the sixth inning after
Nick Sbarra (Washington Twp, NJ) singled to shortstop and advanced to second on a throwing error. One out later he scored on a single to leftfield by
Jairo Jimenez (Bronx, NY). In the eighth
John McGuckin (Bayonne, NJ) was hit by a pitch to lead off and moved to second on a base hit from
David Deredita (Clark, NJ). McGukin scored on Jimenez's fielder's choice, 2-12.
Discher was 3-6 with one run scored and three RBI while Sacerdote was 2-5 with two runs scored and two RBI.
Mike Murano falls to 1-3 on the year, striking out four over five innings of work. Gallagher was 1-2 on the day while Sbarra was 1-2 with one run scored.
The Roadrunners return to action as they travel to Saint Joseph's College on April 1st at 3:30 PM.
