GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team defeated conference opponent Ramapo College, 6-0 on Saturday in the last game of the regular season.
The Profs were led by forward Amanda Greene (sr. Thorofare, NJ/Gloucester City) with three goals. Forward Lauren Ross (so. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester) contributed with two goals and back Lauren Conner (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) added one.
The Profs are 14-4 overall and 4-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Roadrunners have a 7-11 record with a 1-5 conference mark.
Rowan totaled 24 shots while Ramapo took two. Goalie Lisa Apt (fr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was in the Profs' net for her third shutout. Goalie
Megan Tierney (jr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne) made 12 saves for the Roadrunners.
Conner had the first goal at the 23rd minute that put Rowan up 1-0 at the intermission. The Profs went on to score five more in the final half. Greene's first goal came at 35:54 followed by one from Ross at 42:48. Then Greene hit the Ramapo cage two more times at 45:53 and 51:57. Ross scored the final goal at 54:30.
Rowan will have to wait until Monday to see if it receives an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
