Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's tennis team hosted Manhattanville College today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners dropped the match, 1-8 to the Valiants, falling to 0-4 on the year while the Valiants stand at 1-0.
Manhattanville came away with two wins in doubles action heading into singles play sweeping the Roadrunners. Sophomore Julian Oribe (Buenos Aries, Argentina) and rookie Michael Capozzi (Santo Domingo, DR) defeated junior Alan Kats (Montville, NJ) and sophomore
Prasanna Fernando (Wood-Ridge, NJ) 8-1 at first doubles. Senior Lance Dorfi (North Salem, NY) teamed up with Imran Choudhury (Queens, NY) in an 8-1 win over rookie
Anthony Jelderks (Wayne, NJ) and junior
Matt Soos (Barnegat, NJ).
Oribe defeated Kats at first singles, 6-1 and 6-1 before Choudhry defeated Fernando, 6-2, 6-3 at second singles. At third singles, Dorfi defeated Jelderks, 6-2 and 6-2 while Capozzi picked up a win over sophomore
Matt Cacciaguida (Hampton, NJ), 6-0 and 6-1.
Rookie Dean Tahir (Yonkers, NY) won at fifth singles over sophomore
Paul Baluyut (Paramus, NJ), 6-3, 6-2 before senior Allen Cheon (San Rafael, CA) won at sixth singles over Soos, 3-6, 6-2 (2-1).
The Roadrunner's will return to the action in March, when they travel to Florida for their spring break trip.
