ROADRUNNERS FALL JUST SHORT IN NJAC MATCH-UP

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team fell just short to the Cougars of Kean University today in a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest at the Athletic Center in Mahwah. With the 2-1 loss, the Roadrunners fall to 3-6 overall, 0-1 in the NJAC.

The Cougars (8-2 overall, 2-0 NJAC) were awarded a penalty stroke at 38:36, and Lauren Kusik (Randolph, NJ) capitalized to take a 1-0 lead over the Roadrunners. The shut out was spoiled when rookie forward Jayne Manigrasso (Atlantic Highlands, NJ), off a penalty corner from fellow rookie Aimee Herbert (Oceanport, NJ), tied the game at 1-1 about 17 minutes later (54:50).

The game-winning goal came at 59:42 when rookie Olivia Triano (Keyport, NJ) connected on a pass from Brittany Gibbs (West Deptford, NJ) grabbing her sixth goal of the year, and a 2-1 edge for the Cougars that stood through the final minutes of the game.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ashlie Berghold (Boyertown, PA) made three saves for Kean and Ramapo's Megan Tierney (Wayne, NJ) blocked nine Cougar shots, both played the full 70 minutes.

Ramapo returns to action on Tuesday, October 7th when they travel to FDU-Florham for a 7:00 PM start while the Cougars face off with Cedar Crest at 7:30 PM at home on Monday, October 6th.
