ERNY’S FIRST-HALF GOAL LIFTS LIONS PAST RAMAPO, 3-0 IN NJAC MEN’S SOCCER

Ewing, NJ – The College of New Jersey's men's team hosted Ramapo College on Saturday in TCNJ's Soccer Complex in a key New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up. With Saturday's 3-0 conference win, the Lions have secured a spot in the upcoming NJAC playoffs. TCNJ now stands at 8-8-2 overall and 4-4 in the NJAC, while Ramapo drops to 7-9-2 overall and 1-5-2 in the league.

TCNJ's junior Matt Erny (Delran, NJ/Delran) converted a pass from junior Kevin Luber (Delran, NJ/Delran) at 6:16 on a corner kick to give the Lions a 1-0 lead over the Roadrunners. Erny's goal was the first of the season and the third of his career and now has two game-winning goals in his three seasons with the squad.

The Lions took a 1-0 halftime lead and put in two second half goals in the match as sophomore Phill Cunha (Milford, NJ/Immaculata) tallied an unassisted goal in the opening minute of the second half (45:40). Midway through the second half, senior Ryan McMahon (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) added his first goal of the season on a feed from Luber at 62:02. Luber added two assists and continues to lead the Lions on the fall with his 24 points on nine goals and six assists.

Sophomore Chris Kulick (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) got the nod as the Lions' starter in goal and earned his first career shutout and win on the day after turning away three shots he faced. Ramapo's senior goalie Mike Kull (Millville, NJ/Millville) made three saves in the contest with three goals allowed and drops to 0-4-2 in net.

TCNJ returns to action on Wednesday, October 29 hosting Rutgers University-Newark in a 7:30 p.m. NJAC match-up, while Ramapo College will host Kean University that afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
