ROADRUNNERS SWEEP BLOODHOUNDS, 3-0

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-13) non- conference victory tonight over the Bloodhounds of John Jay College at the Bradley Center to improve to 11-7 overall. The Bloodhounds fall to 3-16.

In game one, the Roadrunners hit a combined .440 with 15 kills on 25 attempts and only four errors. The team was led by rookie Kayla Anders (Harrington Park, NJ) who recorded six kills in the game. Michelle Del Valle (Teaneck, NJ) and Tiffany Fischer (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) combined for ten assists and Del Valle led the defense with four digs. John Jay recorded six kills in the 12-point (25-13) loss.

The second game went to Ramapo, 25-12 behind four kills each from Anders and Meagan Taege (Manahawkin, NJ). Elizabeth Steck (Marlton, NJ) recorded a team leading five digs and Del Valle dished out seven assists. The team hit .400 with 12 total kills. John Jay's Tatyana Yachnik (Kyrgyzstan) led the team's offensive attack with four kills while the team hit down six total (6-27, .037).

The Roadrunners swept the match with a game three, 25-13 victory. Anders recorded four kills and Tara Tielmann (Gillette, NJ) added three of her own. Del Valle led the way once again with six assists and Kimberly Runge (Closter, NJ) recorded a team high four digs. The team hit .391 over John Jay's .067.

On the night, Anders was the lone Roadrunner in double digits with 14 kills. Taege finished with eight and Alexandra Mendoza (Haskell, NJ) added five. Del Valle led the way with 18 assists and Fischer finished the night with ten. The team's defense was led by Runge who wrapped up the win with eight digs, while Del Valle came in close behind with seven. The Roadrunners put away 40 kills on 73 attempts with ten errors (.411) while John Jay went 16-61 with 12 errors (.066). Yachnik led the offensive attack with six kills.

Ramapo returns to action on Thursday, October 9th when they take on NJAC rival Montclair State at home at 7:00. The Roadrunners will be donating all tickets sales on the night to "Dig Pink", in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
