Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team played host to Richard Stockton College in their first New Jersey Athletic Conference game of the year. The Roadrunners came away with a 1-0 win over the Ospreys. Ramapo is now 3-4 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC while Stockton drops to 1-7 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Senior Jacquleyn Garofalo (Middletown, NJ) connected on a pass from junior Ashley Zimmerman (North Plainfield, NJ) in the 24th minute of the game to put Ramapo up 1-0.
The Roadrunners held on through the final minutes of the game to hang on for their third win of the season. Sophomore Megan Tierney (Wayne, NJ) recorded three saves for Ramapo. The Roadrunners out shot Stockton 19-4 and had a 13-4 edge in penalty corners for the game.
Junior Sara Weimer (Atlantic Highlands, NJ) ripped nine shots in the game with seven being on goal while Garofalo and Zimmerman each had four shots in the game.
Osprey goalie Debi O'Kane (Cologne, NJ) recorded 14 saves. Gabrielle Palermo (Ocean Twp., NJ) and Amy Grogan (Atlantic Highlands, NJ) each had one shot on goal in the game.
Ramapo returns to action on at September 25th on the road at Kean University at 7:30 PM while Stockton travels to Widener University on September 26th for a 4:00 PM start.
