Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team posted a shut out in their first home game of the season, 1-0 over DeSales University. Ramapo raises their record to 2-4 overall while DeSales drops to 2-4 overall.
Junior Sara Weimer (Atlantic Highlands, NJ) scored the game winning goal on a pass from rookie Kimberly Raimondi (Ridgewood, NJ) in front of the net in the second half for her third goal of the season. Goalkeeper Megan Tierny (Wayne, NJ) made ten saves in the game for her first complete shutout of the year.
The teams played a scoreless first half with DeSales out shot Ramapo 7-5 and also on penalty corners 8-2. Weimer's goal was one of only two shots Ramapo had in the second half as DeSales again out shot the Roadrunners 5-2 and had an advantage in penalty corners, 8-2. Bulldog goalie Molly Pope made four saves in the game while Ashley Sparango and Jen Pulcini each had three shots on goal for Desales.
Rookie Nikki Anne Frodelly (Clark, NJ) had three shots, all on goal while Erin Quigley (Pompton Lakes, NJ) had one shot on goal.
The Roadrunners return to action next Saturday, September 22nd as they host Stockton College at 1:00 PM. DeSales will travel to Albright College on September 19th in a 4:00 PM match-up.
