RABINOWITZ KNOCKS OUT TWO-RUN HOME RUN IN NON-CONFERENCE VICTORY OVER DREW

Mahwah, NJ: Sophomore Justin Rabinowitz (Martinsville, NJ) ripped a two-run home run in the 5th inning to give the Roadrunners a 9-6 lead and rookie reliever Mike Murano (Brick, NJ) pitched the final two innings earning the save to give the Roadrunners a 9-7 victory in Mahwah. With the non-conference win, Ramapo improves to 25-6 overall. Drew falls to 8-17.

Junior Nick Sbarra (Washington Twp., NJ) reached on an error and later scored when sophomore Rabinowitz ripped a double to right field. Sophomore John Callandrello (Montville, NJ) grounded out to second base allowing Rabinowitz to take a 2-0 lead over the Rangers.

Drew came back with three runs of their own in the top of the 3rd inning when Zach Bircks (Columbus, NJ) and Vincent Buffone (Manalapan, NJ) ripped back-to-back hits. John Rocco (Barnegat, NJ) picked up a RBI as he recorded a double to left centerfield and James Soldo (Chalfont, PA) grounded out to the shortstop to plate Buffone.

Joe Cacchiola (Union, NJ) picked up an infield hit with the bases loaded and two outs in the 4th to score Shaun Hanrahan (Hamilton, NJ) who walked to lead off the inning. Jairo Jimenez (Bronx, NY) ripped a single to centerfield to plate Rabinowitz and rookie Eric Titus (Wayne, NJ) to take a 5-3 edge.

Drew tacked on three runs in the top of the 5th topped off by a squeeze play by Dante LaPenta (Newark, DE) that scored Joe Cardinale (Roseland, NJ) to take a one run lead. The Roadrunners came back with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning after Jordan Descafano (Toms River, NJ) singled past the shortstop and scored when Titus ripped a double to leftfield. Senior Gary Miller (Washington Twp., NJ) doubled home Titus before Rabinowitz cracked his two-run homerun over the right field wall taking a 9-6 lead.

The Rangers tacked on one more run in the 6th inning but Murano stepped to the mound and shut them down holding the 9-7 victory.

Rabinowitz went 2-4 with three runs and three RBI while Titus hit a perfect 3-3 with two runs and one RBI. Cacchiola posted two hits on four at bats with one RBI and Jimenez hit 1-2 with two RBI.

Senior pitcher Rich Collyer (Staten Island, NY) gets the win to improve to 2-0 on the year. Collyer let up one run and three hits in 2.2 innings. Tom Clark (Ridgewood, NJ) records the loss in five innings letting up all nine runs and nine hits, striking out one and walking seven.

Cardinale hit 1-4 with one run and one RBI while Soldo went 2-5 with one run scored.

The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow when the travel to NJCU for a 3:30 PM start.
