GALLAGHER’S BLAST POWERS RAMAPOOVER WESTERN CONNETICUT, 24-11

Western Conneticut jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning when George O'Kane (South Easton, MA) reached base on an infield single to third.

The Roadrunners quickly answered back when sophomore Gino Gallagher (Ceder Grove, NJ) took the first pitch he saw with one out and runners on first and second in the bottom of the 2nd and blasted it over the right field fence to put the Roadrunners up 4-1. Ramapo's first run of the game came when John Callandrello (Montville, NJ) scored on Jordan Descafano's (Toms River, NJ) single to center field after doubling to get on base.

Justin Rabinowitz (Martinsville ,NJ) singled to left field to pick up two RBI's and Steve Santorella (Redding Ridge, CT) drove in two more with a single to left field giving the Roadrunners a big lead.

The Colonials came back with four runs on six hits in the third inning when O'Kane and Andy Powers (Stratford, CT) posted back-to-back singles before Matt Gardiner (Terryville, CT) ripped a home run over the left field wall to close the gap, 14-5.

Ramapo spread ten more runs and Western Connecticut six over the final innings wrapping up the game 24-11, Ramapo over WCONN in a non-conference match-up.

Ramapo's Ryan Paxton (Long Valley, NJ) and Peter Sita (Bayonne, NJ) each added two-run homeruns in the 5th and 7th innings respectively while Skyler Conte (Kinnelon, NJ) ripped a triple to lead off the 5th.

Conte went 3-4 with four runs and one RBI while Rabinowitz hit 3-5 with two runs and two RBI in the win.

Senior pitcher Rich Collyer (Staten Island, NY) earns the win letting up ten hits and five runs, striking out five while Western Connecticut's Ryan Dilts (North Plainfield, CT) records the loss letting up 11 runs on ten hits.

The Roadrunners open the 2007 NJAC season tomorrow at home when they host the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers Newark at 3:00PM.
