TWO LATE GOALS PUSH MONTCLAIR PAST RAMAPO

Mahwah, NJ:  Just over 87 (87:18) minutes of scoreless soccer was played before the Red Hawks slipped two consecutive shots past Ramapo's goalkeeper earning a 2-0 win over the Roadrunners in a men's soccer NJAC competition in Mahwah.  With the win, Montclair improves to 15-2-1 overall and 6-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while Ramapo falls to 11-3-2 overall, 4-4-2 in the conference.

The Roadrunners and Red Hawks played almost an entire game before the Red Hawks capitalized on two consecutive shots by rookie Aytac Malta (Lake Hiawatha, NJ) to slide by Ramapo, 2-0.   The first of his two goals came at 87:19, unassisted, while the second was off a cross from John Esposito (Hillside, NJ) at 89:24.  The goals were Malta's fourth and fifth of the season.

Junior goalkeeper Nick Mele (Delran, NJ) blocked three shots while #Ian Tighe# (Wyckoff, NJ) stopped seven in the full 90 minutes.  The Red Hawks out shot Ramapo, 21-8 in the victory.

Montclair clinches the second seed in the 2007 NJAC Championship Tournament and will host the second round on Wednesday, October 31st.  Ramapo awaits the outcomes of tonight's games to determine seeding.
