SCILLIERI RECORDS GAME WINNER IN 3-0 WIN OVER JOHN JAY

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team posted a 3-0 shut out victory over John Jay in the final match of the 2005 President's Cup Tournament in Mahwah today improving to 3-0 overall. The Bloodhounds of John Jay fall to 0-3.

Rookie JIM SCILLIERI (Wayne, NJ) netted his fourth goal of the year and what turned out to be the game winner at 35:52 after rookie MUTLU DURU (Paterson, NJ) and junior JOSH TAYLOR (Hackensack, NJ) connected passes and pushed a cross to SCILLIERI. DURU then gave the Roadrunners a 2-0 and 3-0 lead with goals at 39:03 and 74:54. Rookie BRANDON POMPLIANO (Highlands, NJ) assisted the first of DURU'S goals while SCILLIERI recorded the assist on the second. The Roadrunners ripped 26 shots in the game to John Jay's one.

Freshman goaltender MIKE KULL (Millville, NJ ) recorded his second shut out of the year recording one save in the full game. Michael Podbielski (Bellrose, NY ) recorded six saves while letting up all three goals in the 90 minutes.

In the first game of the day, The College of New Jersey defeated Polytechnic University, 5-1 improving to 2-0 overall. The Fighting Blue Jays fall to 0-2.

The Lions opened the scoring in the fifth minute when junior Tim Dudek (Medford, NJ) hit the back of the net (4:57) off a cross from junior Michael Ferber (New City, NY). Dudek then gave the Lions a 3-0 lead with back-to-back goals at the 6:39 and 11:33 minute marks off assists from Craig Langan (Kings Park, NY ) and Joseph McGinley (Cranford, NJ ) and Ferber respectively. Senior midfielder Matthew Connor (Wayne, NJ ) netted a goal of his own at 44:44 before rookie Bryan Duncan spoiled the shut out with a goal for the Fighting Blue Jays. Mamadou Djourthe earned the assist on the goal. The final goal of the match-up came from Nick Ruskoski (Vineland, NJ) off an assist from sophomore Matt Luber (Delran, NJ) earning the Lions the 5-1 victory in Mahwah.

Sophomore goalkeepers Matt Kasperavicius (Jackson, NJ ) and Robert Prunetti (Titusville, NJ ) split time in front of the net posting one save with one goal against while Joshua Kaufman recorded 12 saves with five goals against in the 90 minutes.

The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, September 7th when the host FDU-Florham at 4:00 PM.
