LAHEY NETS GAME WINNER PUSHING RAMAPO OVER WILLIAM PATERSON, 2-1
Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College men's soccer team earned their third NJAC win today defeating the Pioneers of William Paterson, 2-1 in Mahwah. The Roadrunners improve to 7-1 overall, 3-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while the Pioneers fall to 6-2-2 overall, 1-1-1 in the conference.
Ramapo got on the scoreboard in the 18th minute when junior WILL MAZZUTO (Saddle River, NJ) took control up the middle of the field and beat William Paterson's goaltender Kevin Nuss (Swedesboro, NJ) giving the Roadrunners a 1-0 edge.
The game remained 1-0 until 86:24 when Jay Hooper (Somerset, NJ) made a run one-on-one with junior goal minder PATRICK JAGODZINSKI (Lebanon, NJ) slipping the ball past, tying the game at one goal apiece. The Roadrunners answered back with 1:45 left in the game earning the 2-1 victory. Rookie RYAN LAHEY (Middletown, NJ) connected with sophomore midfielder RAFFAELE LAURETTA (Saddle Brook, NJ) on a corner earned by MATT CHESTER (Hamilton, NJ) to take the game, 2-1. The goal was LAHEY'S first of the year.
JAGODZINSKI recorded four saves with one goal against while Nuss posted four saves with two against in the full 90 minutes.
The Roadrunners will travel to Kean University on Wednesday, September 28th for a 7:30 PM start.
