Mahwah, NJ: The Roadrunners of Ramapo College played host to the Pioneers of William Paterson tonight at the Bradley Center in Mahwah posting a 82-74 come-from-behind victory to improve to 21-3 overall, 13-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. William Paterson falls to 14-10 overall, 5-10 in the conference.
After Ramapo jumped to a 2-0 lead to start the game, William Paterson answered back and took control with a good jumper by Kelvin DeLosAngeles (Perth Amboy, NJ) to tie, 2-2, and a good free throw by Nick Torres (Hazlet, NJ) to take the lead, 3-2. The Pioneers controlled the entire half spreading the lead to as many as 11 just under eight minutes in. William Paterson finished the first twenty minutes 39-34 over Ramapo.
The Roadrunners opened the half trailing for just under ten minutes until AMIN WRIGHT (Jersey City, NJ) hit a three at 10:38 to tie the game at 54 apiece. WRIGHT nailed a jumper just one minute later taking a 56-54 lead. William Paterson grabbed the lead at the 7:22 mark and Ramapo took it back at 5:16 holding it for the final minutes dropping the Pioneers, 82-74 in Mahwah. Ramapo's RASHAWN WILSON (Jersey City, NJ) led the team in the second posting 12 of his 13 points while TODD LOWBER (Riverside, NJ) and DERRICK HOLLEY (Jersey City, NJ) posted ten each.
LOWBER wrapped up the night leading the team with 16 points shooting 4-5 from the field, 8-8 from the free throw line while WRIGHT netted 14 and WILSON finished with 13. HOLLEY dished out a team-high three assists and WILSON and WRIGHT led the way with five rebounds each. For the Pioneers, Miguel Rodriguez (Passaic, NJ) led the team shooting 6-8 netting 15 points while DeLosAngeles recorded 14 and Robert Sullivan (Maplewood, NJ), Chris Severe (Elizabeth, NJ), and Torres all recorded 11.
The Roadrunners shot 45% (24-53) behind the Pioneers 54% (27-50).
The Roadrunners wrap up their 2004-2005 regular season when they travel to Richard Stockton on Saturday, February 19th for a 4:00 PM start. William Paterson will take on Rutgers Camden at home at 3:00 PM.
