RAMAPO FIELD HOCKEY PREVAILS
DEFEATING STOCKTON, 2-0
Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team defeated the Ospreys of Richard Stockton, 2-0 today at the Athletic Center in a NJAC match-up. Ramapo improves to 4-8 overall, 2-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while Stockton falls to 7-8 overall, 2-3 in the conference.
Rookie ASHLEY ZIMMERMAN (North Plainfield, NJ) posted what turned out to be the game winner at the 12:49 minute mark. The goal was ZIMMERMAN'S fourth of the year that came assisted by sophomore DEVIN FLYNN (Mullicattill, NJ). In the first 35 minutes, the Roadrunners and Ospreys each posted seven shots.
In the last half of play, FLYNN added insurance for Ramapo ripping one past junior net minder Caitlin Nolan (Riverside, NJ) at 61:25 giving the Roadrunners a 2-0 edge. Sophomore ASHLEY BROWNE (Tinton Falls, NJ) earned the assist on the goal. Ramapo and Stockton came in even again in the second half each posting five shots for a game total of 12 apiece.
Junior goaltender KATELYN FERGUSON (Sussex, NJ) recorded seven saves in the victory earning her second shut out of the year while Nolan blocked eight shots with two goals against in the loss.
Ramapo will host Marywood on Tuesday, October 25 at 4:00 PM.
