Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College baseball team played host to the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City today at Jeff Maund Field in Mahwah recording a 8-6 victory. The Roadrunners improve to 16-11 overall, 6-5 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while the Gothic Knights fall to 12-15 overall, 1-10 in the conference.

New Jersey City posted three runs in the first inning after Jonathan Thomas (Newark , NJ ) and Wilfredo DelValle (West New York , NJ ) both walked to lead off and later scored on a passed ball and a single by Pat Moore (North Arlington , NJ ) respectively. Moore added a third run on a RBI single to center by Jim Dempsey (Neptune , NJ ). The Roadrunners recorded their first run in the bottom of the inning with bases loaded, JOE RIVISTO (Bronx , NY ) was hit by a pitch bringing in AARON EYLER (Edison , NJ ) who walked to lead off the inning. NJCU took a 4-1 lead in the 2nd with a run by junior short stop Anthony Caivano (Lyndhurst , NJ ) who ripped a double to left to lead off. In the 3rd, Ramapo's first four batters scored runs to tie the game and take the lead, 5-4. JEFFERSON INFANTE (Bronx , NY ) led off with a single to left, JON LOPEZ (Bronx , NY ) was hit by a pitch, RIVISTO walked, and BRAD SZATKIEWICZ (Branchville , NJ ) followed with a three run double tying the game at four. Senior MIKE LALLIS (Clifton , NJ ) ripped a double scoring SZATKIEWICZ, taking the lead, 5-4. With two outs in the 4th, RIVISTO ripped a single driving in INFANTE adding the sixth run for the team. New Jersey City tied the game in the top of the 5th after DelValle and Moore walked to lead off, and came home on a Joey Hyer (Caldwell , NJ ) single to right. In the bottom of the inning, MARK MALYSO (Saddle Brook, NJ) pitch hit driving in LALLIS to take a 7-6 lead over NJCU. SZATKIEWICZ drove in INFANTE who walked in the 6th adding an insurance run, taking the game 8-6 over the Gothic Knights.

SZATKIEWICZ hit 2-4 with one run and four RBI while RIVISTO went 1-3 with one run and two RBI. LALLIS posted two hits on three at bats and INFANTE batted 1-3. LALLIS recorded one run and one RBI while INFANTE crossed home plate three times.

For the Gothic Knights, Thomas hit 2-4 with one run and DelValle and Moore went 1-3 with two runs each. Moore drove in one while Hyer posted two RBI hitting 1-3 in the loss.

Rookie pitcher DAVE CAHOON (Haskell , NJ ) recorded the win improving to 2-1, striking out five and walking five in eight innings pitched. Tom Suchdolski (Belleville , NJ ) stepped in the game pitching six innings, striking out five and walking five, recording the loss. Suchdolski falls to 2-3.

Ramapo will travel to the College of NJ tomorrow for a double header at noon .
