Mahwah , NJ : The Giants of Keystone College dropped the Roadrunners of Ramapo College, 6-2 today at Jeff Maund Field in Mahwah. Ramapo baseball falls to 15-10 overall while Keystone improves to 20-7.
The game remained scoreless until the 5th inning when Darrell Evans (Shavertown, PA) ripped a single to right field scoring Jonathan Papada (Hazeltown, PA) from third and David Adamchick (Mechanicsburg, PA) from second. Both walked to get on base. Evans scored on an error and Mike Leedock (West Courtdale, PA) and Scott Grimes (Kennett Square, PA) came home on a single to left by Deken Kline (Mifflinburg, PA) taking a 5-0 lead. Sophomore BRAD SZATKIEWICZ posted one run in the bottom of the inning after singling to get on base, and JON LOPEZ (Bronx , NY ) crossed the plate in the 7th on a JOE RIVISTO (Bronx , NY ) single to center, closing the gap, 5-2. Keystone added one more run in the 9th, and held the Roadrunners in the bottom of the inning taking the game, 6-2 in Mahwah.
SZATKIEWICZ went 2-4 with one run while JON ALLEN (Clifton , NJ ) hit 2-3 in the loss. LOPEZ posted one run of his own and RIVISTO and STEVE SANTORELLA (Redding, CT) posted one hit on one at bat apiece.
For the Giants, Kline batted 1-3 with one run and two RBI and Evans went 1-4 with one run and two RBI.
Junior pitcher ROB TRUITT (Rye , NJ ) recorded the loss falling to 0-1, pitching 4 1/3 innings, striking out two, walking three, letting up two hits. Sophomore Jeremy Pierson (Rush , PA ) earns the win striking out eight and walking three pitching the complete nine innings.
The Roadrunners will host St. Joe's Patchogue tomorrow at 3:30 PM
