Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College men's soccer team defeated the Cougars of Kean University, 4-2 today in New Jersey Athletic Conference action in Mahwah. The Roadrunners improve to 9-1-1 overall, 3-1-1 in the NJAC while Kean falls to 6-5-1 overall, 2-2 in the conference.
Kean took a 1-0 lead just over 11 minutes into the game when senior forward Marc Fay (Howell , NJ ) connected with a cross from fellow senior James Hempel (Kearny , NJ ). Sophomore forward ADAM AURIEMMA (Paramus, NJ) tied the game for Ramapo at 39:48 off assists from MICHAEL UNGER (Long Branch, NJ) and rookie BRYAN CHOMA (Middletown, NJ) ending the first half at one goal apiece.
Ramapo's MANOLO VIOTTI (Galicia, Spain) gave the Roadrunners a 2-1 lead at 64:50 off a cross from JOSH TAYLOR (Hackensack, NJ) and rookie DAVID TAYLOR (Hackensack, NJ) followed with what turned out to be the game winner just three minutes later. D. TAYLOR 'S assist came from J. TAYLOR. Sophomore transfer WILL MAZZUTO (Saddle River , NJ ) added an insurance goal at 72:49 from KYLE HOFFMAN (Bridgewater , NJ ) before Kean hit the back of the net at 74:29 ending the game, 4-2 behind Ramapo.
Sophomore goalkeeper PATRICK JAGODZINSKI (Lebanon , NJ ) posted four saves while Bogdan Protas (Maplewood , NJ ) recorded eight in the loss.
The Roadrunners will host SUNY OLD WESTBURY on Saturday at 1:00 PM while Kean returns to action on Saturday as they travel Greensboro at 11:00 AM .
