Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team fell short to the Pioneers of William Paterson, 68-66 today in Mahwah. Senior Khayri Battle (Newark, NJ) grabbed a rebound with 1.5 seconds on the clock to lead William Paterson to their 11th victory of the season. The Pioneers improve to 11-4, 4-2 in the conference while the Roadrunners fall to 10-4, 1-3 NJAC.
After Ramapo took a 13-2 lead to start the game, William Paterson gained control to lead the entire game, by as many as five in the first half, and six in the second. Ramapo tied the game with seven minutes remaining and took the lead, 66-64 with one minute left on the clock. Battle tied the game at 00:41 before knocking down the game winner.
Battle posted a team-high 27 points shooting 12-20 from the floor, 2-3 from behind the arc. Battle grabbed seven rebounds while dishing out two assists. Brandon Constantine (Teaneck, NJ) followed with 11 points and Rashee Fleming (Camden, NJ) added eight. Dennis Harper (Newark, NJ) dished out a team-high three assists.
Ramapo was led by senior guard CHARLES RANSOM (Jersey City, NJ) who broke the all-time points record at Ramapo netting his 1,776th point tonight, 18 in the loss. JARED MILLIGAN (Ringwood, NJ) netted 17 and ELIAZAR VELEZ (West New York, NJ) posted nine. Junior AMIN WRIGHT (Jersey City, NJ) tallied five assists. Ramapo shot 42% from the floor behind the Pioneer's 48%.
