Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College Roadrunners posted 25 runs on 24 hits cruising by the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City, 25-8 in Mahwah. Ramapo improves to 18-14-1 overall, 7-9 in the NJAC while New Jersey City falls to 5-21 overall, 1-12 in the conference.
After a scoreless 1st, NJCU took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd after Denis Peguero (Newark, NJ) hit a two run single to score Pat Moore (North Arlington, N) and Rich Boyer (Kearny, NJ) who each hit a single to get on base. Ramapo answered back with nine runs in the bottom of the 2nd. KEITH GUTHRIE (Fairless Hills, NJ) singled to score DAVE WINANS (Hillsborough, NJ) who reached on an error to get on base. MIKE LALLIS (Berkeley Heights, NJ) doubled to score BRAD SZATKIEWICZ (Branchville, NJ) and GUTHRIE scored on a RBI single by JONATHAN LOPEZ (Bronx, NY). AARON EYLER (Edison, NJ), LOPEZ, and DOUG ADAY (Dallas, TX) all scored on wild pitches to jump ahead, 7-2. SZATKIEWICZ and GUTHRIE each posted RBI singles to score RAY DIAZ (Bronx, NY) and WINANS giving Ramapo a 9-2 edge after two full innings. Ramapo scattered 16 more runs throughout five innings while the Gothic Knights added five in the 4th and one more in the 7th.
ADAY went 4-6 with four runs and four RBI while EYLER and DIAZ each posted three hits on four at bats with four runs and one and five RBI respectively. LOPEZ hit 3-3 with two runs and one RBI and GUTHRIE hit 3-4 with one and three in the game. LALLIS posted two hits, two runs and one RBI of his own.
Phil Lospalluto (Cliffside Park, NJ) went 3-3 with three RBI and Jonathan Thomas (Newark, NJ) hit 2-4 with one and one.
PAT TUTHILL (Doylestown, NJ) earned the win with six strikeouts and two walks in six innings pitched. Dan Sweeney (Bayonne, NJ) recorded the loss striking out four and walking four, letting up 13 runs on 13 hits in three innings pitched.
The Roadrunners will travel to Rowan University tomorrow at noon.
