Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College Roadrunners fall to 17-14-1 overall, 6-9 in the NJAC while Kean University improves to 23-9 overall, 11-4 in the conference after Kean's 14-6 victory over Ramapo at Jeff Maund Field in Mahwah. Ramapo posted six runs on ten hits with three errors while Kean tallied 14 runs on 19 hits with two errors.
Ramapo took a 1-0 lead in the 1st with a solo homerun by sophomore AARON EYLER (Edison, NJ). Kean tied the game in the 2nd after Matt Giannacio (Hamilton, NJ) scored on an error. Giannacio walked to get on base. MIKE LALLIS (Berkeley Heights, NJ) hit a solo home run in the 3rd and RAY DIAZ (Bronx, NY) hit a RBI single to score EYLER, who walked to get on base, to take a two run lead. The Cougars posted one run in the 4th and five in the 5th to jump ahead 7-3. In the 5th, Justin Della Volpe (Emerson, NJ) singled to lead off and Felix Urena (North Bergen, NJ) followed with a two run home run. Kevin Wright (Plainfield, NJ) hit a home run of his own and Joe Cornachia (Avenel, NJ) and Giannacio each posted singles. Francisco Romero (Jersey City, NJ) drove in the two with a single to lead by four. Kean rallied for two more in the 6th and five more in the 9th while the Roadrunners could only add one run in the 5th, 8th, and 9th falling to the Cougars.
EYLER went 2-4 with three runs and one RBI while DOUG ADAY (Dallas, TX) and KEITH GUTHRIE (Fairless Hills, PA) each posted two hits on four at bats. Della Volpe hit 4-6 with three runs and two RBI for the Cougars. Wright hit 4-6 with two and three while Cornachia went 3-6 with one and three in the game. Giannacio posted three runs and Urena added two of his own.
FRANK PICINIC (Paramus, NJ) recorded the loss with one strikeout in 5 1/3 innings while Steve Bucchignano (South Plainfield, NJ) pitched a complete game recorded ten strikeouts and three walks.
The Roadrunners will host New Jersey City tomorrow at 3:30 PM.
