Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College Roadrunners posted five runs and 12 hits with six errors falling to William Paterson, 11-5 in Mahwah. Ramapo drops to 16-13-1 overall, 5-8 in the conference while the Pioneers improve to 16-9 overall, 6-4 in the NJAC.
With two outs in the bottom of the 1st RAMON DIAZ (Bronx, NY) hit a home run with DOUG ADAY (Dallas, TX) on first to take a 2-0 lead over the Pioneers. The Pioneers answered back posting three in the 3rd. Ron Hayward (Hoboken, NJ) doubled to right center to lead off the inning and later scored on an error. Dan Suarez (Jersey City, NJ) grounded out driving in Tim Banos (Edison, NJ) who reached on an error to get on base and Bryan Graham (Medford, NJ) later scored on a wild pitch. DIAZ hit a RBI single with two outs in the 3rd to tie the game 3-3. William Paterson took the lead adding three runs in the 5th inning for a 6-3 Pioneer lead. Banos singled to right to lead off, Suarez doubled to center to score Banos, Jack Baker (Jerseu City, NJ) tripled to right to score Suarez and Mark Kalish (Northvale, NJ) tripled to center to score Baker. The team added three more runs in the 6th with runs by Banos, Jason Toseo (Bloomfield, NJ), and Graham. The Roadrunners closed the gap after DOUG MEIER (Clifton, NJ) singled to lead off the 6th and later scored off a RBI single by sophomore RYAN PAXTON (Long Valley, NJ). DAVE WINANS (Hillsborough, NJ) scored on AARON EYLER's (Edison, NJ) single to put Ramapo within four. The Pioneers added insurance in the 8th with two more runs downing the Roadrunners 11-5.
Banos went 1-6 with four runs while Graham posted two hits on three at bats with two runs and three RBI. Hay ward hit 1-5 with two runs and Suarez went 1-4 with one run and three RBI in the game. For the Roadrunners, DIAZ went 2-5 with one run and three RBI while EYLER hit 2-4 with one and one.
Dan Corrado (Dumont, NJ) earned the win improving to 4-1 with one strikeout and one walk while JOE LAMBERT (Newburgh, NJ) recorded the loss falling to 3-1 with four strikeouts and one walk, letting up seven hits and six runs, four earned.
William Paterson posted 11 runs on 12 hits with one error in their 11-5 victory.
The Roadrunners will face the Pioneers tomorrow in Wayne at 3:30 PM.
