RUTGERS CAMDEN SHUTS OUT RAMAPO, 16-0

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College Roadrunners fall to Rutgers Camden, 16-0, dropping to 16-12-1 overall and 5-7 in the NJAC, while Rutgers Camden improves to 15-10 overall, 9-3 in the conference.

Rutgers Camden posted 16 runs scattered throughout seven innings on 14 hits dropping the Roadrunners 16-0 at Jeff Maund Field in Mahwah. Camden took a 9-0 lead in the 3rd after junior pitcher JOHN FRANKEN (Clifton, NJ) posted five strikeouts in the first two innings. Jim Slade (Williamstown, NJ) got on with a walk, Brian Murphy (Sewell, NJ) was hit by a pitch, and Barry Huver (Williamstown, NJ) reached on a fielder's choice to lead off the inning. Murphy and Slade scored on an error, and Huver scored on a second Ramapo error to take a three run lead. Matt Calloway (Blackwood, NJ), Frank Marciano (Erial, NJ), and Rick Flores (Vineland, NJ) also posted runs in the 3rd after reaching on an error, singling to right, and walking respectively to get on base. Chris Godish (Sewell, NJ), Tyler Inkster (Audubon, NJ), and Nick Turekian (Cherry Hill, NJ) each posted runs of their own. Rutgers Camden had a three-run 5th as well as a two-run 6th and 7th to shut out the Roadrunners.

Inkster went 3-4 with two runs and one RBI while Flores posted two hits on four at bats with two runs and two RBI. Calloway was 2-5 with three runs and two RBI while Turekian went 2-4 with two and two in the game. Slade added one run on one hit with one RBI and Murphy was 1-4 with one run and four RBI. Marciano hit 2-5 with two runs and one RBI.

For the Roadrunners, RAMON DIAZ (Bronx, NY) went 2-3 while JONATHAN LOPEZ (Bronx, NY) and DOUG MEIER (Clifton, NJ) each posted one hit on three at bats.

Matt Ulmer (Beverly, NJ) earned the win improving to 3-1, striking out three and walking one in six innings pitched. FRANKEN recorded the loss falling to 0-4 on the season, walking four and striking out eight.

The Roadrunners will host William Paterson on Tuesday, April 22 at 3:30 PM .
