Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team improved to 14-6-1 overall, 4-2 in the NJAC today as they swept the Ospreys of Stockton College today at Jeff Maund Field. Stockton falls to 2-17-1 overall, 1-8 in the conference.
Game1: The Roadrunners posted 14 runs on 19 hits in game one downing the Ospreys 14-2. Ramapo jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning when pitcher Dave Hall (Southhampton, NJ) walked DOUG MEIER (Clifton, NJ) with the bases loaded. Junior DOUG ADAY (Dallas, TX) and RAMON DIAZ (Bronx, NY) led the team hitting 4-4 with three runs and four RBI and 4-6 with two runs and one RBI respectively. MEIER went 3-5 in the game posting one run while sophomore AARON EYLER (Edison, NJ) recorded two hits on five at bats with two runs and two RBI. Ramapo held a 12-0 lead before Stockton's Jake Walling (Oakland, NJ) crossed the plate in the top of the 7th. Walling went 0-2 while Kevin Makely (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ) posted one hit on one at bat with two runs scored.
PAT TUTHILL earned the win improving to 2-2 for the season. TUTHILL recorded seven strikeouts and four walks with one run. Dave Hall (Southhampton, NJ) took the loss giving up seven runs, four walks, and three strikeouts.
Game 2: Stockton took the lead in the 1st inning when Ross Karrer (Mays Landing, NJ) reached on an error and Eric Markussen (Iselin, NJ) and Travis LaFerriere (Millville, NJ) crossed the plate. Khris Phillips (Vineland, NJ) added a run to give Stockton a three run edge over Ramapo. The Roadrunners tied the game and took the lead with an 11 run, seven hit 5th inning. EYLER and JON LOPEZ (Bronx, NY) both walked to lead off. ADAY followed with a RBI single and DIAZ and DAVE WINANS (Hillsborough, NJ) reached on errors to load the bases. MEIER and KEITH GUTHRIE (Fairless Hills, NJ) hit RBI singles, MIKE LALLIS (Berkeley Heights, NJ) walked, EYLER, LOPEZ, and ADAY hit RBI singles, before DIAZ stepped to the plate driving out a two-run home run to give Ramapo a 14-6 lead after five. Stockton and Ramapo each posted one more run in the 8th before closing out the game. Ramapo was led by GUTHRIE hitting 5-5 with one run and five RBI while MEIER posted three hits on four at bats with three runs and one RBI. LOPEZ went 2-4 and ADAY was 1-4 with two runs and two RBI. Phillips led Stockton hitting 2-4 in the game with one run and one RBI while Luke Stahl (Oakland, NJ) went 1-4 with one run and one RBI.
JOE LAMBERT (Newburgh, NJ) recorded the win in 2 1/3 innings with no strikeouts and one walk, letting up only one hit. Frank Primicile (Bayville, NJ) posted the loss giving up six runs with two strikeouts and four walks.
