Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's tennis team opened their 2003 season today at the Athletic Center facing the Bloodhounds of John Jay. Ramapo defeated John Jay, 7-2. The Roadrunners stand at 1-0 overall while the Bloodhounds fall to 0-2 overall.
Senior GEOFF MIGUEL opened the match with a singles victory downing John Jay's Dino DiSaverio (Queens, NY) 6-3, 6-2. JOE CONWAY posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory while DERRIK HENSEL recorded a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 win of his own. DAVE SHEFFRIN and AZMAL HAIDAR rounded out Ramapo's singles victories with 6-0, 7-5 and 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 wins respectively.
In doubles action, CONWAY and HENSEL downed John Jay's pair 8-5 while HAIDAR and DAN HARDINA also added a doubles win, 8-6.
The Roadrunners will travel to Hunter College on Tuesday, April 1st at 4:00 PM
