MEN OPEN NJAC SEASON WITH WIN

MAHWAH, NJ: Combining the 3-point shooting of junior forward JARED MILLIGAN (Ringwood, NJ) with the inside presence of senior center KEVIN STOKES (Wyckoff, NJ), Ramapo won its New Jersey Athletic Conference men's basketball opener by beating William Paterson, 76-57, Tuesday night.

STOKES scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half, while MILLIGAN pumped in 12 of his 16 after halftime to place four Roadrunners (3-0) in double figures. MILLIGAN also pulled down 11 rebounds. Junior guard BENJAMIN ALLEN (Clifton, NJ) led all scorers with 18 points and junior guard JAY DEGROAT (Middletown, NY) added 15.

William Paterson (0-2) was led by sophomore guard Tim Benoit (Roselle, NJ/Roselle Catholic), who scored a game-high 20 points. Junior guard Brandon Constantine (Teaneck, NJ) added 11 points for the Pioneers.

William Paterson pulled within 44-43 with 11:53 left on the strength of a jumper by junior forward Khayri Battle (Newark, NJ). However, Ramapo used three 3-pointers from MILLIGAN, a strong inside-outside game from STOKES and a terrific defensive effort that forced 31 turnovers to put together a 32-14 run to end the game.

Ramapo seized a 30-23 halftime lead thanks to a defensive effort that held William Paterson without a point for nine-and-a-half minutes en route to taking a 26-9 lead. However, William Paterson ended the first 20 minutes on a 14-4 spurt as sophomore guard Tim Benoit (Roselle, NJ) knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and Rory Caswell (Toms River, NJ) scored four points.

The Roadrunners will travel to College of New Jersey on Wednesday, December 4th at 8:00 PM.
