Hernandez picks up his fifth NJAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor as the senior record-setter set probably the biggest of his career - the national NCAA Division III record in the mile. He became the first Division III athlete in history to run a sub-4:00 mile, clocking a 3:59.01 at the Boston University Last Chance Meet to set the new national mark. He finished second in his heat and ninth overall, only behind NCAA Division I and international runners. Hernandez has enjoyed a record-breaking season, setting (and resetting) the Ramapo school record in the mile, and breaking his own NJAC Championship record in the mile. He previously ran the fifth-fastest time in NCAA history with his 4:03 earlier this year, before setting the record with his sub-4:00 time.
