Peterson picks up his third NJAC Rookie of the Week honor in the final week of the 2016-17 season after leading conference champion Ramapo to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He averaged 13.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals in two NCAA games. He opened the tournament with 15 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in the first round win over Misericordia. He followed up with 11 points (nine at the free throw line) along with eight boards, two assists, two steals and a blocked shot in a tough one-point loss to Keene State. He went 16-for-18 at the charity stripe in the two games. Peterson finished his rookie campaign averaging 7.8 points and 3.8 boards in 17.7 minutes off the bench.
