Mahwah, NJ: The NCAA Men's Basketball Sweet 16 is coming to the Bradley Center on March 9th & 10th. The Ramapo College men's basketball team punched their ticket to the NCAA Sweet 16 round after winning the Williamstown, MA pod and defeating Moravian College (86-61) and #5 Williams College (66-62).
This will be the fourth time in school history the Roadrunners (23-6) advance to the Sweet 16 and the second time (2004-2005) the Bradley Center will host the sectional round of the NCAA Tournament. The Roadrunners are 10-8 all time in NCAA action and head into this weekend on a five game win streak that dates back to February, 14th. During the span the Roadrunners won their second consecutive NJAC Tournament Title along with their first and second rounds games of the NCAA Tournament.
The Bradley Center will host two Sweet 16 round games on Friday night, March 9th when Middlebury College and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology will square off at 5:30pm. The Roadrunners will then take on F&M at 7:30pm. The two winners will advance to the NCAA Elite Eight game on Saturday, March 10th at 7pm.
Franklin & Marshall College (22-6) are winners of the Newport News, VA pod. The Diplomats will be making their 17th appearance in Sweet 16 and first since 2012. F&M has also advanced to the Elite Eight ten times and the Final Four five times with one title game appearance in 1990-91. In fact, when the Roadrunners advanced to the programs only Final Four appearance in 1991 they went up against F&M - the Diplomats coming away with a 109-56 victory. F&M finished that season the NCAA Runner-up, falling in the championship game to UW-Platteville 81-74.
Middlebury College (21-6) who won the Willimantic, CT pod makes their ninth appearance in the tournament in the last 11 seasons and is 15-8 all-time. The Panthers are ranked #18 in the d3hoops.com Top 25 poll.
MIT (24-5) who won the Baltimore, MD pod makes their eighth appearance in the tournament and is 8-7 all-time. The Engineers who are ranked #19 in the d3hoops.com top 25 are 12-6 all-time against Middlebury.
