10-6 Overall, 4-1 NJAC
The Ramapo College women's tennis team finished their 2009-2010 season standing at 10-6 overall, 4-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference and a second place finish in the regular season.
The Roadrunners earned their first two victories of the season with 9-0; shutout wins over John Jay and Cabrini. They dropped a match to Moravian, 3-6 before posting wins over Misericordia, 6-3 and FDU-Florham, 9-0. Ramapo fell to NJAC foe, The College of NJ, 9-0 and defeated Rutgers-Newark, 8-1 before they fell in a close match to Mount Saint Mary, 4-5.
Ramapo fell to East Stroudsburg, 1-8 before bouncing back with an 8-1 win over NJAC rival Kean. The Roadrunners went 3-2 in their final five matches of the 2009-2010 season and secured the second place finish in the NJAC with a 5-4 win over rival Stockton. They also picked up wins over Hunter, 5-4 and the City College of NY, 9-0.
The Roadrunners saw much individual success this season.
Jywel Almirante (Newton, NJ) recorded a 13-3 mark this season in singles play while
Alexandria Potosnak (Vernon, NJ) was 11-2 overall.
Laura Strandberg (East Brunswick, NJ) finished 9-7 overall while senior
Alison Tukel (Morris Plains, NJ) posted a 7-5 record.
The doubles team of
Erin Gerhard (Cape May, NJ) and
Brittany Pitts (Pompton Lakes, NJ) posted a team best 5-2 overall record while Almirante and Gerhard posted a 2-1 record.
