How glamorous it must have been to be the quarterback for a National Championship team! Before John Boback had a distinguished career at Ramapo, he was impressing the coaches and the opposition at Pompton Lakes high school and Temple University (he actually played against Grambling’s Heismann Trophy winner Doug Williams). Transferring to Ramapo, it was apparent that he was going be an impact player.

A very big quarterback who also saw playing time at linebacker, John’s throwing arm could float the ball into the hands of a receiver, or throw the bullet with equal accuracy.

Thinking beyond the 1978 National Championship, he feels that the 1980 game against Montclair State was a highlight because this was a win against an established State Conference program.

Current he resides in Flagler Beach, Florida with his wife and two sons, and is self-employed as a builder of custom homes.
