Panama City, FL: The Ramapo College softball team fell to #3 Louisiana College and Willamette University today at the 2010 NFCA Leadoff Classic.
Against Louisiana College the Roadrunners were down 7-0 going into the bottom of the third inning before they tacked on three runs. With two outs sophomore

Katie Donnelly (North Haledon, NJ) who reached on an error and advanced to second when junior
Rachel Wong (Livingston, NJ) walked before rookie
Maggie Scarpelli (Wyckoff, NJ) singled to left field plating Wong. Rothenberger then scored from third base with the bases loaded on a wild pitch from the Wildcats for the third run of the inning.
With one out in the fourth inning junior
Jaclyn Giangrande (Belleville, NJ) walked and went to second on a ground out before rookie
Deanna Russomanno (Cranford, NJ) doubled down the third base line putting runners on second and third. Wong then reached on a Wildcat error allowing two Roadrunners to cross the plate to come within three runs, 7-5. The Wildcats got one back in the in the fifth inning before Ramapo tied the game in the sixth inning.
Donnelly reached on an error and advanced to second on a pass ball before Russomanno singled to third base. Wong then reached on a fielder’s choice while Donnelly was out at third base. Rothenberger then singled home Russomanno and Wong to pick up two RBI and she went to third base on the play. Pinch runner junior
Brittney McKeon (Toms River, NJ) tagged up and scored on Scarpelli’s sacrifice fly to right field to tie the game, 8-8.
The Wildcats would scratch out three runs in the seventh inning; aided by two Ramapo errors to take a 11-8 lead and Ramapo could not score in the bottom of the seventh.
Junior
Lyndsay Buehler (River Vale, NJ) picked up the loss for Ramapo as she pitched the final four innings with four strikeouts.
In their second game Ramapo would play under the lights at Frank Brown Park against Willamette University where the Roadrunners fell, 7-3.
Ramapo took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Rothenberger cracked her first home run of the season plating Donnelly who reached on a bunt single and then stole second before moving to third base on a sac bunt by McKeon. Willamette got one run back in the top of the second inning before tying the game in the top of the third inning on a RBI double to take a 3-2 lead.
Donnelly doubled down the left field line to lead off the third inning and moved to third on a sac bunt by McKeon. Donnelly scored on a pass ball to tie the game at three before Willamette broke the game open with three hits in the fourth inning aided by two Ramapo errors and they scored two more in the fifth inning to take a 7-3 lead.
Donnelly was 2-4 with two runs scored while Rothenberger went 1-3 with one run scored and two RBI. Sophomore
Lauren Shaw (Wayne, NJ) took the loss as she pitched six complete innings only allowing four earned runs. Rookie
Brittany Musolino (South Plainfield, NJ) pitched the final inning for Ramapo as she did not allow a hit and struck out the final three batters.
Ramapo returns to action when they play Emerson College at 8:30 AM tomorrow morning. Their final game of the NFCA Leadoff Classic will be determined after the game against Emerson.
